Hello Everyone,

My name is Unah Mutio Matu-Ngare and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.

I worship at Calvary Presbyterian Church and St Matthew’s and St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church (SMSJ) both in Detroit. I am a member of the Thika Work Group. This group builds and fosters Christian relationships with the Presbytery of Thika in Kenya and drills wells for communities in that country. On the national level, I am a member of PC(USA) Kenya Mission Network.

Within the Episcopal church I have served on the vestry (session) several times, as a Sunday School teacher, altar guild member and prayer group leader.  I am the Secretary of Episcopal Church Women (ECW) for the Diocese of Michigan, the United Thanksgiving Offering (UTO) Coordinator for the Diocese of Michigan, a Eucharistic Minister and the volunteer bookkeeper for SMSJ.

I earned a dual major in Business Administration and Economics.  I completed the four-year Education for Ministry (EFM) course offered by The School of Theology of the University of the South at Sewanee Tennessee and co-mentored for a couple of years.  I worked in management in corporate America for over 25 years.

I am married with children, grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces/nephews and grands.  I enjoy many things in life, a few are gardening, reading, people, travel, meditation and walking.  I have a hunger and thirst for learning and growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord so I am a life time student and stay engaged in diverse communities/organizations.

I am so excited and feel blessed to be serving as the Hunger Action Coordinator.  Doing this work is a joy because it is a calling.  High on my list of spiritual gifts is healing.  Feeding the hungry is healing.
